Announcement for C-SIGMA VII, 19-20 April, 2017, EMSA, Lisbon, Portugal
It gives me great pleasure to announce that registration is now open for C-SIGMA VII, the 11th International conference* on using unclassified space systems for global maritime awareness. It will be hosted by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), Lisbon Portugal, on 19-20 April. This comes as a virtual tidal wave of new capabilities, both in space and in the cyber world, comes over the horizon and bears down on all of us with truly astonishing speed as new satellites and processing capabilities being announced seemingly every week.
Building on the success of the previous events hosted by the USCG, Canada, the European Space Agency, NATO, and Japan, with the last five held in Italy (ESC & NATO), Ireland, Tokyo and London, this conference will focus on how this explosion in technology is being used or, even more importantly, how it could be used, to assist the world address its challenges in the security and safety worlds as well as protecting the environment and resources of the maritime domain.
